As we enter the Wales-wide lockdown for over two weeks, the Welsh Government has today confirmed that it has no plans in place for how to control the spread of the virus once Wales exits the national lockdown on the 9th November.

Paul Davies MS, Leader of the Opposition in the Welsh Parliament, said:

“Once again the Welsh Government has no exit strategy. The First Minister is taking us into a Wales-wide lockdown without publishing the full data to justify it, the details of what they are going to achieve during the lockdown and now we don’t know what the situation is going to be at the end of it.

“The Welsh Government needs to give us hope and clarity of what it will actually achieve and what life will look like post national lockdown.

“Instead of imposing this temporary national lockdown and further damaging the recovery of businesses in areas with low Covid-19 cases, the Welsh Government should do more to ensure that areas in local lockdown, where cases are rising, do actually start to have an impact and look at hyper-local lockdowns in areas of concern in other counties.

“People are concerned that this second Wales-wide lockdown is just the start of rolling lockdowns over the coming months.”
